Rules:
How things are operated at the DMA message board:
Here at the Department of Mutant Affairs strive to ensure that all games that start, are going to have the best chance at survival. By having the highest quality games, we hope to make it so that all players have the best experience. No one likes to join a game only to have it fall apart a few weeks later. So if your one of those people who has thought about joining or running a game, but weren't sure what was required. Or applied for a character but were rejected, and were looking for a new place to play... then this information is a must have for you.
STEP I:
Read the rules of the board; decide if joining the board is something that you want to do, and to see if this is something that you can do on a regular basis. Doing good role-plays takes time and commitment for the person joining.
STEP II:
Creating a character OR taking over a character that has been around for a while or even a long while. The GM/Director will post when we are looking for new characters and or actual roleplayers for a current character. Here you must decide how your character are to be - hero, villain, and a neutral character. You can join as a "special" - a person with metahuman and or mutant abilities; or you can join as a "special agent" meaning you would have role-play assignments to role-play. [The RD would begin by posting a message on the message board telling you what's happening in the adventure. After you finish reading it, you can post a reply telling your character's actions.]
STEP III:
Be active.
A typical role-play will begin when either:
A. the regional director of the area you chose posts a message on the message board
B. the Director of Mutant Affairs posts a role-play plot.
C. a character [villain/hero/neutral] posts a role-play plot telling you what's happening in the adventure. After you finish reading it, you can post a reply telling of your character's actions, but you also must use the abilities of the character that you have listed/requested.
The plot continues as the person [RD, Director, character] returns or during that same time posts a reply telling you their reaction to your actions and any new developments in the adventure. Basically, that's it! The game just continues back and forth for the entire adventure.
You may also start an adventure your self as well! Give as much information as possible so the other role-players know what to expect and how to respond to the initial posts so they too can participate. If you wish to create a new adventure, you will be in charge of it - meaning how long it runs, and if necessary the eventual outcome and how to get to it.
STEP IV:
Play-by-chat method:
The DMA also uses a play-by-chat method as well as far as enhancing the adventure as well. This will add to the plot as far as for example an evil character threatens the Department or character, and you can respond, and if the character that threatened is still online then the adventure continues.
We at the DMA also do audio recorded role-plays that are posted onto PODCASTS that we will soon again posting on the site to be able to have our members and maybe even people that want to join listen to and to enjoy. These audio recording also can be updates from the Director/GM as well as far as activity of the board and things of this nature.
